Scientists didn’t even know that this species of whale existed just over a decade ago. They determined that it was indeed its own species through genetic samples but the whale was rarely seen, and never captured on camera.. until now.
The omura’s whale, or dwarf fin whale, was filmed in this video for the first time ever by a team of biologists off the coast of Madagascar. Researchers decided to focus on the region and have thus far observed 44 groups of omura’s whales.
